北京大学科学史与科学哲学论坛第90讲
时间:2012年11月6号(周二)19:00-21:00
地点:北京大学二教205
主讲人:墨西哥国立自治大学天文学教授加林多博士(Dr.Jesús Galindo Trejo)
题目:玛雅天文学与2012大预言(Maya Apocalypse in 2012?:A critical view from the Mesoamerican astronomy and culture)
摘要:
In recent months the idea has spread which, according to some Maya prophecies, a global cataclysm will happen in December 2012, with serious consequences for humanity. This talk presents the views of the science community on such a claim. It will explain the Maya system of time calculation and why 2012 may be designated as a special year, while also showing the archaeological remains that led to this interpretation. At the same time, it will also discuss the impossibility of an accurate astronomical prediction on a planetary cataclysm.
From the mural painting recently discovered in the city of Mayapan, there is the possibility that pre-Columbian Mayas were able to record the transit of Venus across the solar disk. On June 5 2012 an event of this type occurred, so it is proposed that the Maya priest-astronomers may have set their own calendrical system so that on the day of this transit an important calendrical cycle would be completed.
主讲人简介:
Dr. Jesús Galindo Trejo completed his Bachelor degree in Physics and Mathematics at the Physics and Mathematics School of the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico. He did postgraduate studies in the Faculty of Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and obtained a doctoral degree in Theoretical Astrophysics at the Ruhr Universitaet Bochum in the Federal Republic of Germany. He was a titular researcher at the Astronomy Institute of UNAM for more than 20 years in the fields of plasmas astrophysics and solar physics. Nowadays he holds a full-time researcher position at the Esthetics Research Institute of UNAM, working in the field of archaeo-astronomy of Pre-hispanic Mexico. He has actively participated, for more than 20 years, in a landmark interdisciplinary project, The Pre-Hispanic Mural Painting in Mexico. He has also been involved in the so-called field of Cultural Astronomy that deals with the influence and participation of astronomy in the development of ancient and present cultures. He is affiliated with the Researchers’ National System of Mexico and is a member of the International Astronomical Union. He has carried out archaeo-astronomical research in Malinalco, Teotihuacan, Oaxaca, in the Huaxteca region and many other archeological sites of the Mayan Region.
